How the Career Change Quiz works
The quiz asks 28 questions about your interests and work preferences and assigns your answers to the Holland-RIASEC model, a method widely used in career counseling with six interest types: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. The 28 questions are grouped into five blocks: interests, skills, work environment, values, and motivation, so your profile is not based on a single question type but combines several perspectives on the same tendency. In about ten minutes, you get an initial sense of which career fields might fit your interest profile, even if you have worked in a completely different field so far.
At the end, you receive not just your dominant interest type but a ranking of all six types, because most people have a mix of two or three interest directions. This combination gives a more precise indication of suitable career fields than a single type alone, especially when changing careers, where previous experience and new interests need to be brought together. For each of the five best-fitting career fields, the result shows a short explanation of why the field suits your profile, along with concrete example occupations within that field, so the recommendation stays tangible instead of abstract. If your answers turn out mostly neutral, the quiz explicitly points this out and tells you the result is less meaningful, instead of pretending to show a ranking based on answers that were not clear enough.
The result does not replace thorough career counseling, but is a good starting point, especially if you are considering whether to stay in your previous profession in Germany or switch. From each recommended career field, a direct link leads to matching job listings and, where relevant, to checking the recognition of foreign qualifications for that occupational group, so you do not have to search for the next step separately. For a deeper comparison with specific career fields and recognition pathways, it is worth talking to a coach from the coach directory afterward, as well as looking at the Check-U test of the German Federal Employment Agency as a more thorough, complete variant of the same model.

Frequently asked questions about the Career Change Quiz
What is the Holland RIASEC model?
A widely used method in career counseling with six interest types: realistic, investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional. The quiz maps your answers to this model and shows a ranking of all six types, since most people have a mix of two or three directions.
Does the quiz replace career counseling?
No. The result does not replace in-depth career counseling, but it is a good starting point, especially if you are considering whether to stay in your previous profession in Germany or switch. For a deeper comparison, a conversation with a coach from the Coach Directory or the Bundesagentur für Arbeit's Check-U test is recommended.
Are my quiz answers saved?
Your answers are stored exclusively locally in your browser, not transmitted to the server, and are therefore handled as described in our privacy policy. Your latest result stays saved so you can view it again later without repeating the quiz.
Do I always need new training for a career change?
Not necessarily. Whether a career change requires formal training depends on the target profession: for regulated professions such as nursing specialist or electronics technician, a recognized qualification is a prerequisite, while in many other professional fields, existing skills and work experience count for more than a formal qualification. The quiz shows you suitable professional fields; the concrete clarification of whether retraining is necessary is best done in a consultation with the employment agency or with a coach from the Coach Directory.
